Do you rely on Facebook Insights to track the performance of your Facebook page?

In this article, I’ll give you a tour of the new Facebook Insights and the data you’ll find there, so you’re better equipped to support your marketing goals with Facebook.

What’s New With Facebook Insights?

Facebook Insights has long been valued by successful marketers as a source of data that can help drive strategic marketing decisions. Until recently, the bulk of that valuable data was accessible only through the export of clumsy, difficult-to-navigate spreadsheet files that often buried key metrics.

Thankfully, Facebook has refreshed the web version of Insights to bring you clear data sets that are presented in easier-to-navigate graphs that are highly dynamic and customizable. New features include:

  • Benchmarking
  • Easy start and end date slider
  • When your fans are online feature
  • Best post types feature
  • Comparisons vs. general Facebook audience
  • Advanced filtering
  • Addition of Post Clicks stat

Access the New Insights

Access the new Insights from within your admin panel.

From your admin panel, the Insights box is located next to the Get More Likes box. If it looks like the example above, you have the new Insights. Click on See All to launch the Overview.

If it looks like it used to a month or more back, you don’t have it yet. Patience! You’ll get it soon. In the meantime, here’s what you can expect…

Explore the New Overview Tab

Immediately upon arriving at the new Insights, you’ll get an updated Overview screen. This is Facebook’s way of showing you as much data as they can at one time.

The new Insights are broken down into the following tabbed sections:

  • Overview
  • Page
  • Posts
  • People

The Overview tab of Facebook Insights summarizes what’s going on with your page.

You’ll recall the old Insights had an Overview screen as well. Now, new graphs represent snapshots of your Page Likes growth, Post Reach and Engagement. The most recent posts are still found at the bottom of the screen.

If you aren’t sure what a data set refers to, hover over the title and a definition will pop up.

Hover over People Engaged to get a definition of the data segment.

The definition of an Engaged User has long been confusing to page admins. Many have incorrectly assumed that an engaged user is anyone who likes, comments on or shares a post. In reality, it includes any click at all.

Facebook Insights now clarifies this and breaks the stat into Post Clicks (see below) and Comments, Likes and Shares only (we’ll see this later).

This week we take a look at how e-commerce  annotations and the Content ID system are helping those who want to monetise  their video content as well as some of the new tweaks YouTube have introduced.

YouTube Gives Go Ahead For E-Commerce Annotations

A huge percentage of those producing consistent, quality, relevant content on  YouTube will have looked into the ways they can monetise their channel. There  are many avenues to explore, all with various degrees of success depending on  your approach and audience. We have a new kid on the block in the form of Subblime which  aims to provide extra revenue for those that use their services. Subblime is one  of the companies that YouTube have just endorsed that allow content creators to  link out to third parties via their annotations. The company currently has  around 40 creators signed up and confirms the CTR ranges from 20% to 50%. One to  watch.

AdRev Opens Up Content  ID Platform To Independent Musicians And Publishers

We’ve already touched on monetisation opportunities and the YouTube Content ID system has been an excellent way for  artists to track down and often profit well from copyright infringements. AdRev,  one of the biggest third party providers of tracking to the huge publishing  companies such as Universal and Warner have opened up their features to smaller  labels and musicians via their new ContentID.com  site. Artists can upload their content to AdRev’s database for free and keep 80%  of the revenue from unofficial, third party videos.

Rhett And Link Producer Jason Inman Wants $10,000 To Go Find Bigfoot

The producer behind YouTube darlings Rhett and Link has launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund a web  series tracking and finding (because it totally exists) Bigfoot. For a  modest $10,000, Jason Inman and his team of Squatch Watchers – with the help of  the glorious Chuck Testa – aim to do what programmes like ‘Finding  Bigfoot’ have failed to, albeit restricted to filming in the California area  only. Of course, Sasquatch aficionados will know that Cali was the location for  the most famous sighting of all time so anything is possible.  Here’s the trailer for the campaign:

Armonk’s Mariani Gardens Granted Zoning Text Amendment For Café Plans | Armonk Real Estate

 

Mariani Gardens in Armonk was recently granted a zoning text amendment from the North Castle Town Board to enlarge its café, according to a report by The Examiner News.

The text amendment would allow the Armonk nursery, located on Bedford Road, to enlarge its café from 1,000-square-feet to up to 3,500-square feet, and it would also be able to increase its seating capacity from 16 to 72, the report said. Certain home furnishing and luxury items, like soaps, lotions and jewelry, could also be sold at the business.

The final step in granting the zoning revision is approval from the North Castle Planning Board.

The text amendment was granted after two years of debate and revised proposals, according to the report.

Mount Kisco Police Issue Alert after Coyotes Kill Pet Dog | Mt. Kisco Real Estate

A coyote attack on three dogs on Friday prompted police to issue an alert urging residents to be vigilant about monitoring their children and pets outside.

Around 7 a.m. three coyotes descended on Kristin Porteus’ three small Chihuahua terrier mixes at her  Langeland Drive home, killing one of them despite Porteus’ efforts to prevent the attack, according to a report in The Journal News.

Mount Kisco police sent out an online alert Saturday night about the coyote attack. A coyote also was sighted Friday evening in northeast Mount Kisco. The  incidents are the latest in a string of confrontations with coyotes.

Real estate prices rebound but it’s still a buyers’ market | Cross River Real Estate

The average sales price of a home in South Mississippi in June reached its highest level in three years, a sign that the Coast real estate market is following the national trend upward.

Homes and condos sold on average for $134,721 in June, according to the Mississippi Gulf Coast Multiple Listing Service. That was up $8,000 from May and almost $11,000 from a year ago. The last time

South Mississippi saw that price was in July 2010.

While that’s good news for some sellers, it doesn’t yet mean homeowners who owe more than their home is worth can move without bringing thousands of dollars to the closing table to satisfy the loan, said Kathy Elias, a real estate agent with Coldwell Banker Alfonso Realty in Gulfport.

She’s been a real estate agent for 18 years and said most everything has changed since the real estate bubble burst. Since 2008, it’s much harder for buyers to get a loan, harder for sellers to get their homes appraised for what they feel their property is worth and extremely tough to buy or sell a condo.

Elias said people who bought a condominium in South Mississippi for $650,000 after Hurricane Katrina can’t sell it today for $200,000, and only a few lenders will finance a condo purchase.

‘Steadily rebounding’

Ray Gonzales Jr., a real estate broker and consultant with Century 21 Williams & Associates in Gulfport, said the inventory of bank foreclosures and short sales has tumbled from 23 percent of all closed sales last year (July 2011 through June 2012) to 11 percent for the same period this year. The rate of homes closed is the best in six years.

Spanish Housing Prices Continue Slide in Second Quarter | Waccabuc Real Estate

Spanish home prices continued to weaken in the second quarter, suggesting the country is still a long way from recovering from a property market crash that forced the country to seek a bailout for its banks.

Prices declined 7.6% year-on-year and 2.4% from the first quarter, a report prepared by the Public Works ministry showed Friday. The average price per square meter was 1,481.7 euros($1,942.36), down 29.5% from the first quarter of 2008.

Spain is enduring a protracted recession that was precipitated by the collapse of a housing and credit bubble five years ago. Late last year, the country’s banks transferred billions in bad real estate loans to a government-backed “bad bank” established with the help of euro zone bailoutfunds

ILHM: “Luxury Segment has been Leading the Recovery” | Bedford Hills Real Estate

In response to a June 27 Real Estate Economy Watch article asserting that for the first time since the Institute for Luxury Home Marketing began tracking upper tier market trends in 2008, its Market Action Index hit the threshold that separates buyer’s and seller’s markets earlier this month, ILHM Founder Laurie Moore-Moore points out that he luxury segment has actually been LEADING the recovery for more than a year.

“We appreciate your coverage of our data, but just a note to let you know that the interpretation of our ILHM National Luxury Market Report is not correct.  The luxury segment has actually been LEADING the recovery for more than a year.  Sorry that we did not give you additional information for context,” she said.

“While the recent national report does show that the luxury niche has officially clicked over to a seller’s market and that every listing isn’t gobbled up in the same month it is listed, this does not mean luxury is behind other segments in recovering.  There is plenty of evidence to the contrary.

“We do recognize that there is no such thing as a “national” real estate market.  Like the Case Schiller report, our report is a composite report.  Info on more than 30 major markets is available to our members (the definition of luxury varies market by market.)”

The highest tier of homes for sale, homes priced over $500,000, has been the last part of the market to feel the effects of the housing recovery. On June 2, the ILHM reported its Market Action Index had reached 30 for the first time and in subsequent weekly reports the index has maintained its position. “The ILHM National market is currently slightly in the Seller’s Market zone (greater than 30).The Market Action Index stands at 30 which indicates that luxury demand is relatively strong but the available supply of new listings doesn’t get acquired immediately,” the ILHM noted in its June 23 report.

Immigration reform would boost housing markets | Bedford Hills Real Estate

Author William R. Alger once said that public opinion is a second conscience. That seems to be the case with public sentiment towards our nation’s immigration policy. A CNN poll shows 84 percent of Americans back a program that would allow undocumented workers to stay in the U.S. and apply for citizenship if they have been in the country for several years, have a job and pay back taxes.

Reforming our broken system and bringing 11 million people out of the shadows is not only the right thing to do, but also a smart economic move that would generate billions in federal, state and local taxes, stimulate housing purchases and trigger increased consumer spending. According to the Center for American Progress (CAP), new reforms would yield about $1.5 trillion in cumulative U.S. gross domestic product over 10 years.

All of which lawmakers seem to be adding up as a bipartisan committee of senators delivers a common-sense plan that could gain wide support — that is if anti-immigrant advocates don’t derail the bill. A study released by the American Action Forum, a conservative think tank, estimates that immigration reform would increase GDP by a percentage point each year over the next decade and, through this stream of tax revenue, reduce federal deficits by a combined $3.5 trillion.

If fiscal conservatives are doing the math on this, you know serious money is involved. What a difference a few years make. Back in 2004, the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals published a study — “The Potential for Homeownership Among Undocumented Workers” — that estimated that these families would generate about $44 billion in new mortgages.

This was a conservative estimate that factored only 200,000 householders and did not account for the consumption of goods and services these homeowners would incur –

July 17, 2013 Boater and swimmer advisory lifted for  Long Island Sound near Milton Harbor in Rye and Mamaroneck Harbor The advisory cautioning against contact with the Long Island Sound near Milton Harbor in Rye and Mamaroneck Harbor has been lifted by the Westchester County Department of Health.  The advisory is being lifted based on the results of water samples which show that the water does not pose a public health risk. People who use the Long Island Sound in this area for recreational purposes are free to resume direct contact with the water and swimming at the following beaches is now permitted: Beach Point Club, Orienta Beach Club, Mamaroneck Beach and Yacht Club, Shore Acres Pointe and Harbor Island Park Beach, all in Mamaroneck; and American Yacht Club, Shenorock Shore Club, Coveleigh Club and Greenhaven Association, all in Rye.

The advisory had been issued as a precaution because an underground force main break near Blind Brook had released sludge close to where the Blind Brook empties into the Long Island Sound. The Westchester County Department of Environmental Facilities took the force main out of service at about 2:15 p.m. on Monday, but repair efforts were hindered by high tide.
Repairs to the force main were completed Tuesday evening and water was pumped through the pipe during the night while workers checked the air relief valves along the force main. Crews finished backfilling this morning and the line has now resumed normal pumping operations.
