Avril Lavigne and former hubby Deryck Whibley of punk band SUM 41, have listed their mansion on the Bel Air real estate market for $9,500,000, according to the Real Estalker. Lavigne’s home is situated in one of the most exclusive parts of the affluent Los Angeles area in the gated neighbor hood of Bel Air Crest. Median Bel Air home values are currently $1,722,000.
Lavigne made her singing debut at age 18 on Billboard’s top 40 with hits like “Complicated” and “Sk8r Boi” in 2002. She and fellow rocker Whibley got engaged in July 2005, and were married in 2006. Although Lavigne is best known for her “skater clothing:” Converse, pink streaks in her hair and black cut-off jeans, she chose to be wed in a princess-like Vera Wang gown.
According to property records, the couple purchased the Bel Air mansion in 2007 for the current listing price of $9.5 million. Lavigne filed for divorce in October 2009; it was finalized in November 2010. The home has only been on the Los Angeles real estate market a few days.
The Mediterranean-style estate has over 12,000 square feet of living space. Built in 2003, the 8-bedroom, 10.5-bathroom home is situated on a little over half an acre and includes a sprawling lawn, fountains and sparkling pool, surrounded by high walls.
The home includes a two-story foyer, large gourmet kitchen with breakfast nook, first-floor dual offices as well as a guest suite with private bath. Upstairs, each of the four bedrooms has its own bathroom. The master feature a small kitchenette, fireplace, patio, custom walk-in closets, and dual baths. The basement level has a wine cellar and tasting room, large gym with bath and sauna, 10-car garage, laundry and staff quarters.
The home is listed by agent Jade Mills of Coldwell Banker.
